Country Diary of a Lady: 01/20/2014

It’s a beautiful, blue skied snow covered morning.  Though I was awake far earlier than I wished to be.  But I am going to look at it as an opportunity to be creative.  Perhaps today is the day that I shall finally finish the embroidery on my red cape.  (I’m on the final ¼ of the total amount of embroidery and it seems to be taking the longest…)

11:35AM
I began!  I went for a short run this morning!  Of course, for the time being I’m confined to a treadmill, but I started!  You see, I’m training to run my very first 5K race.  And, since I am not a runner naturally, I decided that if I was to run a race it would have to do some good.  Following that thread, I chose to run in a race to raise funds for research into Pancreatic Cancer.  I lost my father to that particularly nasty cancer a little over three years ago.

And these things, combined with the knowledge that I need to do something to improve my health and over-all well-being, I decided that I was going to transform myself into a runner.  Now, I had officially started running last spring.  And oddly enough I found myself enjoying it.  However my schedule in the summer is so incredibly taxing that I had little enough time to rest myself.  I stopped running and did not pick the habit back up again this fall.

So, here I am, picking up the habit again.  And looking forward to the journey!

12:20PM

All right, one more step ahead for tomorrow.  Laundry has been sorted into appropriate categories to be cleansed tomorrow.  I’ve officially run out of socks!  I’ve decided that I’m going to run through all of the Lord of the Ring’s Movies again.  Haven’t watched them for a while.  And while I do have The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, I haven’t seen The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug so I shan’t watch that one until I have all three of the newest installments.

Besides, I know it well enough that I can do other things while it plays in the background.  Like sort laundry and embroider.  I’m determined that by the end of tomorrow I shall have all of the embroidery done on this cape.  Then, I’ll post pictures, I promise.
